I was asked by Jon Dix of HPX to co-create the live visuals for Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief tour. Our goal was to do a low-cost, effective, and creative imag (image magnification) system for the shows. We were also asked to give it a “security camera” look as “national security” was a recurring theme in the album. I designed the camera and mixing system and ran the rig with Jon for the entire tour. We contracted Randy Jones from Cycling 74 to make some custom waveform generators with Jitter. XL Video provided the LED screens. We did shows in the USA, Canada, Japan, UK, EU, and Australia.
These are pictures from the tour. Included are shots of the crew, the stage, and some pics from the camera feeds. I am still trying to locate some good video excerpts from the shows and will try and post that down the road.
A beautiful ambient musical adventure by Lusine. I accompanied his set with live video manipulation of some 8mm home movies that he provided. This was the opening act for Stars of the Lid who played later that evening. Special thanks to Leo from Killing Frenzy Visuals for helping me write that wacky alpha map software. Sponsored by Decibel Festival, at the Triple Door, Seattle, Washington, USA, April 18 2008.
A few years ago I received a healthy donation of 16mm educational films from the Seattle School District. I found that I could use two projectors and mix them by covering and uncovering the lenses with my hands. I like to do visuals this way a few times a year.
This is a small excerpt from an hour long set I did with Lusine at the Baltic Room during Decibel Festival 2008, Seattle Washington.
This is a VJ set I did for Helios during the Ambient Showcase at the Triple Door – part of Decibel Festival 2008 in Seattle WA.
The content is a bunch of footage I shot at the park with a macro lens and then I did a bunch of alpha map, delay, and feedback manipulation during the show.

Kris and I go way back to B’Ham and the Division parties up there. It is always a treat to accompany him on his eclectic journeys. This one is dark and dubby.
The content here is stuff I created using a cool fractal generation program called Artmatic. This was mixed live using Max/MSP/Jitter.
Ever wondered what it is like to load in a rock band? This is a timelapse I did of a String Cheese Incident load in. Tracer Visuals designed the video screen, Andy Carroll designed the lighting rig. Show footage coming soon…
